Now the drums sounds far better, and I still have the editing possibilities that MT Drums gives me! So, I downloaded Kontakt 5 free, which has a better drum kit pop drums, and I simply dragged over my MT Drum Kit´s midi arrengements to a new midi track where I had Kontakt 5´s pop kit. But, I too think that the drum kit sounds harsh and thin, but I liked the simplicity of editing. Now the drums sounds far better, and I still have the editing possibilities that MT Drums gives me! The hi-hat open and close effects may prove useful, but I haven't tried those properly yet - I'll try playing around with them when a future project needs it. My conclusion is that I'm far better served by the Acoustica drum kit selection I have Mixcraft 6 Studio, because with some applied EQ, compression and reverb I can at least achieve a nice big authentic sound. So much for this being correctly equalized already! Unfortunately, this free download is stuck with only one lame drum kit. To get it sounding reasonably okay I have to kill the 8khz band completely and give some boost at 63khz. The kick drum sounds a bit powder-puff, with far too much high frequency content around the 8khz band that reveals a metallic click sound, and putting it though a compressor just brings this out even more. The floor tom has no depth, sounding far too shallow, so I had to give the 125hz band a massive 18dB boost all the way up with the Acoustica EQ in order to get it sounding anywhere near decent. As for the crash cymbals, they are just lightweight and limp. It sounds like someone has removed the snare the loose spring that straps on underneath, which ends up making it sound like a tom with too much high-mids applied. My manual adjustments proved just as chaotic. The mapping feature in 'Settings' is all over the place too, whereby the octaves in midi are referenced wrongly, eg. They claim they've set up the eq correctly, but it's just plain wrong, and the inbuilt compressor controls do nothing. I'm not surprised they gave up trying to make any money out of this because the quality is mediocre, and I would imagine the demands for a refund were appearing in droves. The cymbals to me are the better part of the set! I think they have more swoosh then the other sets. Mixcraft has better cymbals but hey, free is free. Remembering, of course, to either restart Mixcraft or rescan the plugin folders after installation. Finally, one that works, and it's FREE!!!! Thanks for the links. I also like the way you can map the outputs to separate Mixcraft channels for each sound in the kit. EQ will give more flavour to the sound too. I'll have to throw together a tune with this and see what comes out! It actually does sound pretty decent, with good hihats. I think it has better quality sound than EZ Drummer. Watch this video: After you have the kick drum sounding to your liking, select all the tracks in the drum folder and save them as a track template by going to the tracks menu and choose Save tracks as template. I finally have everything up and running properly in MTPDK2 - after I had posted here that things were working, they stopped working, but now everything is running smoothly.
